Top 5: R&B Music Videos (Love Songs)

Have you ever listened to a song and were left thinking something similar to this?  “Wow, I can’t wait to see the video to this song.  It’s gonna be amazing.”  Then when the video is released, you are left feeling like that was a colossal waste of time.  Well, if you haven’t, I have.  I guess I’m just weird like that.

In my opinion, music videos are there to tell the story that the song can’t tell by itself.  It’s almost like watching a mini movie.  In just a few, brief minutes you are taken into the mind of the artist and songwriter.  You are given the opportunity to see their true vision for their hard work and dedication. Thirty-Three (33)

Did you know that:

  • A normal human spine has 33 vertebrae when the bones that form the coccyx (bone in the spine) are counted individually
  • 33 is, according to the Newton scale, the temperature at which water boils.
  • 33 is the number of many retired sports legends like Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, and my all time favorite Scottie Pippen.
  • The number 33 was discovered to lead to the essential meaning of life (the Bible) in Dan Brown’s 2009 novel “The Lost Symbol”
  • The divine name Elohim (or God) appears 33 times in the story of creation in the opening chapters of Genesis in the Bible.
  • Jesus performed 33 recorded miracles before his crucifixion at the age of 33.
  • 33 is not only a numerical representation of “the Star of David,” but also the numerical equivalent of AMEN: 1+13+5+14=33 Continue reading

Movie Reviews: World War Z

Do you like zombie movies?  No?  Well, neither did I.  28 Days Later…nope.  Night of the Living Dead…no sir.  Day of the Dead…I don’t think so.

I didn’t like zombie movies nor did I like anything zombie related.  With the exception of Sean of the Dead (really funny movie by the way), I always stayed away from this genre of entertainment.  It just always grossed me out.  The fact that I’m kinda squeamish doesn’t help either. The Banned List: Tyler Perry

The Banned List:  Tyler Perry

Let me first start out by saying that Tyler Perry once had my attention.  I was a strong supporter of his cause and all his works.  Although I wasn’t there as a supporter for him since day one I was, however, there before all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, TBS, and The OWN Network called his name.

If I recall correctly, Diary of a Mad Black Woman (the play) was my first encounter with Mr Perry.  I remember watching it on DVD and thinking how good it was.  A little raw in it’s delivery, but still…it was good. Continue reading

Light Rail Diaries: 7.1.13 (Afternoon Edition)

(Afternoon Edition)

Maaaaaan, it’s hot outside.  The walk from my job to the train station isn’t that far.  Maybe about a 10 minute walk.  If you add 91 degrees to that 10 minute walk along with dark jeans, it makes you feel like a soft serve ice cream cone….melting just a bit with the passing of every second.

And melt i did.  I started sweating like a “working woman” in church.  Man oh man, it felt so good to sit down in my usual seat on the back row and be cooled by the central air. Continue reading
